Freshwater Lures

Crankbaits Hardbaits and Spoons

Fishing freshwater lures can be lots of fun but there are so many to choose from, these freshwater lures here are ones that work.

There are many ways to fish these lures here are a few, jigs are often used with some type of rubber bait and can be deadly on bass with a grub worm in tandem jig and with a black pork rind eel, fish them slow with erratic jerks in open water or pull slowly through a patch of lily pads. Jigs fished in freshwater are best when using ultra light or light graphite rods, jigs come in various sizes and materials.

Johnsons Silver Minnow either silver chrome, gold and black are great for tossing in the weeds or through the lily pads, you can also add a rubber curly tailed grub as a trailer this drives bass and trout nuts. Fishing freshwater lures with a fly rod, a popping bug is first choice when fishing the shallows another is the smallest Johnsons silver minnows for fishing in weed infestations, and add a small # 2 spinner on a black fly this is deadly on bass, trout or salmon.

Rubber worms fished with a tandem rig are almost totally weed less so you could toss it right into where the fish are waiting.

Some good fishing freshwater lures are swimming lures the shallow diving lures work especially well when drifting, be sure to reel in slow towards the direction you are drifting. There are sinking swimmers and deep divers that work really well in deep water and those with really long bills are great for bumping stumps. Fat small minnows big O type lures are a wobbling bass plug that’s very deadly on bass when reeled in slow.

Freshwater lures fished in rivers with swimmers, best way is bring them back slow against the current plus don’t just fish the middle cast along the shore line if its at least 2 feet deep or more. Jitterbugs are fantastic in lakes ponds and some rivers this lure makes a lot of commotion and attracts lots of action.
